Well, now I’m tongue-tied. I’m usually so eloquent.
Let me introduce myself.
My name is Alysha. I am a former teacher, but decided to leave that wonderful profession a few years ago when our family moved from Ontario to Alberta for my husband’s job. Staying home all day allowed me lots of time to think about what to make for dinner, and my family was pleased to eat home-cooked meals many nights of the week.
During those glorious three years in Calgary, I also developed a love of gin. So I’d often have a gin in the afternoon while I was getting dinner ready. Sometimes I’d have a couple gins… dinners on those nights were off-the-charts! I also enjoy a nice glass or two of Sauvignon Blanc while I’m cooking. There’s usually music blaring in the background. You get the picture. If you’re not having fun while making yummy recipes, then you’re not doing it right.
Now that I’m back in Ontario, I have been twiddling my thumbs, wondering what to do with my life. I’m on social media way too much; it’s such a time-waster. Frankly, I’m a bit bored. As a stay-at-home-mom to two girls who are at school all day, the hours are long and one can only do so much laundry. So I tend to turn to cooking to pass the time. This is why we are here.
I’ve always loved to cook. Making meals for people is a way I show how much I care about them. I think there’s nothing better than putting together a great meal and sitting around the dining room table with your loved ones, laughing and talking about your day. It also makes me happy when I make a meal and everyone eats it without complaint; this is a tall order when you have picky children.
I always post pictures of my food and drinks on social media, like Facebook and Instagram. I think that can be annoying for my friends who don’t care to see another post of my meals. But I have some friends who always comment that they want the recipe. So now, I can direct them here!
Well, thanks for stopping by. Once I get the hang of this, I’ll post a recipe! Stay tuned!
